SENTIMENTAL SUNDAYS : part three
*Every Sunday, for the sake of indulgent nostalgia, and because I’m in the process of moving and digging through this shit, I’ll be posting an old photo with an old track from my personal vault of unheard music. I have hundreds of recordings going back to my junior high years, and loads of embarrassing photos to match, so this might get weird. In fact, I’m counting on it.
Enjoy my memories as your own.
From 1998, this pic seems appropriate for the Memorial Day weekend. Seems I had fallen asleep on my dad’s boat, prompting him to snap a shot of my pale torso incurring what would end up being a terrible burn.
This week’s accompanying track, “Kids In Transition / Slow Stampede” is from a particularly fruitful period in Arlington, TX back in 2006 while I was attending UTA. It’s an assembled medley of song fragments which had no homes. There’s an easy metaphor here I could explain, that would tie in the photo on the boat and the music, involving a young man’s “transition” into manhood. That would be lame though so forget it.
